Kiara Advani made her striking debut at the Met Gala 2025 wearing a custom couture piece, 'Bravehearts,' that featured her own personal flair, embracing the moment she’s living through. Fitting seamlessly with this year’s theme, 'Tailored for You,' the soon-to-be mom confidently styled her look to celebrate her baby bump, creatively representing the new chapter of motherhood through fashion.

Breastplate to Dramatic Cape: All About Kiara Advani’s Gaurav Gupta Met Gala Gown

Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, Kiara wore a custom Gaurav Gupta gown. The black dress featured a metallic breastplate and a long white train. One special element stood out, a heart-shaped plaque, symbolising her baby, attached to the breastplate with a golden thread meant to represent the umbilical cord.

Gaurav Gupta's Tribute to Dandyism and André Leon Talley

Designer Gaurav Gupta shared deeper insights into Kiara Advani’s Met Gala 2025 look, explaining, “On the pregnant Kiara Advani, the look takes on a deeper meaning, representing how identity is inherited and reimagined through generations. At its core, a gold sculpted breastplate with two hearts—mother and child—connected by an abstract umbilical cord.”

He further described the dramatic white cape, saying, “She is enveloped in a dramatic white cape echoing André Leon Talley’s 2010 Met Gala look. The piece is both armour and offering.”

André Leon Talley, the renowned American fashion journalist and consultant, was a leading figure in promoting this style. This year’s Met Gala at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art coincided with the opening of the Costume Institute's exhibition, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," inspired by Talley's bold influence.

The exhibit, inspired by Talley’s bold fashion choices, explored the history of dandyism in Black culture, a style that dates back almost 300 years. For those unaware, dandyism, a fashion movement that began in the 19th century, is known for its stylish, often quirky, and extravagant appearance, behaviour, and mannerisms.

With this appearance, she became the fourth Bollywood actress to walk the iconic red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in Manhattan. Previously, Indian actors Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra have attended the Met Gala. Kiara's presence at the event highlights how Indian celebrities are gaining more space in international fashion circles. Before this, Kiara represented India at the Women in Cinema Gala Dinner during the Cannes Film Festival. Her attendance at such global events proves how she is slowly becoming a familiar face on the international scene.
